  • Yawwwwwn.  All this cold weather is making me sleepy.  Makes me want to curl up with a book on my featherbed, underneath my feather comforter (yup, I'm always cold) and snuggle.  I was sooo looking forward to a cruise during my May break to get me through this weather and school...looks like that is not going to happen.    No vacation at all for that matter.  Royce is really bummed as he loves vacations.  At this point, I'm just happy getting time off from school to spend extra time with Royce and the kiddos.  Not to mention doing things around the house that I can't get to.  Maybe I need to take him somewhere for a weekend.    Maybe the Mansion on O Street...hmmm.

Can you tell I'm tired, I can't even form coherent thoughts to blog with.  Soooo, I guess I'll git.  I think I hear my pillow calling.

  • Heh heh, lil guy was plum tuckered out!

Our sitter takes tons of pictures of the kiddos and will surprise us with a pile every once in a while.  This was one of the best of the last group.  Notice Spence's socks are missing...he loves to pull them off, hence his nickname, Spencersockerov.

Y'all have a great weekend.  Stay warm.  Anyone know of an organization where I can donate some winter coats so someone could get them right away??  I would hate for someone to freeze in this weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hola, folks.  Dang, the snow was just amazing.  People raiding stores to get the last Charmin...a few arrests from unruly people squeezing the stuff...milk flying off the shelves, salt and kitty litter weighing down people's carts.  Yeah, people here in Maryland simply panic at the word "snow".  I actually got an email update from schoolsout.com telling me that Montgomery County schools were NOT closed.  Uh, there was a dusting...yeah, if there was a cancellation, I was going to phone the superintendent.

Anyhoo, I wanted to ask for some input.  Royce and I decided last night that we're going to go on a cruise with Thing1 and Thing 2 during my May break.  So, anyone know of any cruise lines that are really great with kiddos?  Besides the Disney line..we're prob. going to do that once I graduate.  I would really like to leave from Baltimore so we don't have to worry about flying, a long car trip and/or hotels.

Alrighty, I've gotta go nuke my cup-o-soup.  Y'all have a great day, y'hear?

  • Kyra's surgery went off without a hitch.  She's relaxing comfortably on the couch, watching ALL of her favorite movies and mommy is in mommy-heaven.    She was a champ at the surgi-center...got everyone to call her Sleeping Beauty or Princess Aurora.  Very persuasive child, isn't she?

  • Hey all.  Not in a great mood today.  Started off on the wrong foot by arguing with my hubby.  I won't go into details.  But, seeing as I'm not in the mood to write, I thought I'd link you to this site of pretty cool pics from 2003.  Have a wonderful day, everyone.  I'll post an update on Kyra tomorrow following her surgery.

All's well in the peanutmom hacienda.  I think these early mornings and not seeing each other are starting to get to us.  I'm also a little stressed about the surgery tomorrow.  I trust this surgeon implicitely, it's just that Kyra is soooo small and ORs are soooo big.  Rational, eh?    Have a great night, y'all.

  • You know how those of us here on the East Coast have been battling this arctic cold?  Let me just give you an idea of how cold it is here...my one good friend who is a runner went running yesterday AM around 6/6:30 (crazy, isn't she?).  She always holds a bottle of water while she's running to ensure proper hydration (love those big words I'm learning in school?), her bottled water froze SOLID in her hand during her run.    Yeah, it's THAT cold here.  The temperature gauge in my car said, "You really don't wanna know, it's just freakin' cold, lady."  Seriously.

In other news...Kyra had her first hearing test today and did purty good.  My hubby had to take her but said she was great.  She has a mild loss in her right ear now as a result of the fluid, but that will clear after the surgery Wednesday morning.  She'll be having her second set of tubes and her adenoids removed.  I really hope that this clears things up this time.  She's just been through sooo much!

Well, I have mucho work to do.  Y'all stay cool, warm, whatever.

  • Criminy it's cold!  My in-laws are in Mexico for the next 3 weeks on vacation...I'd actually put up with the little digs and arguments just to be in a warm climate.  *brrrrr*

We watched "Blow" last night.  We TiVoed it last April and I'd been dragging my heels ever since because I thought it would be depressing and just not up my alley.  Well, it wasn't exactly uplifting, but it was a great movie.  Johnny Depp was truly amazing.  That role and then his Pirates' role have made me see him in a different light as an actor.  He really rocks!  Ok, so he's not soo bad on the eyes either....

Well, I have much work to do already.  The semester just began and already I feel like I never had a break.  Eh, only 16 weeks of straight didactic work and then my rotations begin!!!  Yahooooo!!!!!!!  There will be some classwork during rotations, all the stuff we need to do for our Master's degree...mostly research, but I LOVE writing research papers, so that's not a bad thing.  Ok, y'all stay warm and safe this weekend.  Tah tah!

  • Sheesh, been a while.  Things have just been insane.  Now that I'm back in school and not home "relaxing" I have a little more time to blog.    We're making headway in our morning room.  Tho' Royce decided to "help" the other day by doing another coat of the dark paint...there are now stalagmites/tites and oozes everywhere.  The walls need to be sanded before I can do anymore coats.  And you KNOW who'll be doing the sanding...  On a brighter note, Royce and my pop put up beadboard on Sunday and I have managed to put on a couple coats of a yellow paint on that.  We still need a few more coats plus putting up the chair rail and painting the trim.  Dang, this room is just taking forever!!!!!!!  I'll post pics as soon as we finish...probably around June at this rate!

Well, gotta get back to school.  Please pray for my wee Kyra, she's having her second set of tubes and an adenoidectomy next Wednesday.  She has just been through sooo much lately!

  • Oy, dark paint is a son-of-a-gun to paint with!  I did the primer, just like "they" tell you to, I've done 2 coats with 2 cut-ins, and looks like there's going to be a 3rd coat.  Dangit.  Atleast the color is cool!  My kitchen right now is a mess...everything from our sunroom has been shoved over to the kitchen and it's stressing me out since I'm having Christmas Eve dinner here!!!  Augh!!!!!!!!    And, we still have to clean the basement up since that's where we'll probably open gifts.  *doh*  Looks like yet another late night.  Oh, and did I mention that my hubby is going to play a 8:30PM soccer game tonight??  Yeah, that's not helping matters.

Anyhoo, just needed to blow off some steam.  I've gotta hit the showers, run to the Depot for another can of paint, then to the sitter's since she's having a Christmas party and Santa is going to show up!!

Y'all have a great Christmas if I don't get on in the next couple of days.

  • Buenos noche!  Ok, I am the first to admit it...Mama Mia totally and completely ROCKED!!!!  You have to understand that I was raised by parents who not only had matching perms, dad looked like Grizzly Adams (yeah, I just totally dated myself there, didn't I??), and there were plenty of John Denver, Carpenters, Neil Diamond, and ABBA albums around the house.  Totally off topic, but one of my fondest memory is of my brother (4.5 yrs older) dancing around and singing to Neil Diamond's Portrait of a Showgirl...I think that's what it's called (her name was Lola, she was a showgirl...yadda yadda, you know the rest)...heh heh, he'll deny it vehemently now though.

Anyhoo, the musical was a blast.  At the end we were all standing up and dancing and singing...my throat is sooooo sore today from screaming soo much!!    And, ladies, if you haven't seen this...there are several scenes with half-naked men!!!  Yahoooooooo!    Sorry, guys, but man, are they BUFF!!!!

I'd like to thank everyone again for their prayers for Spencer.  He's doing better, but he's been sooo wheezy that I'll be calling the doctor tomorrow to find out if that's ok and expected or what.  I listened with my stethoscope (yes, advantages to studying to be in the medical field) and he definitely still has pneumonia.    Atleast he no longer fights the nebulizer treatments, he's realllllllly great about sitting in your lap and cuddling and singing.  *sigh*  Have I mentioned how much these kiddos mean to me?!?!  Having all this extra time with them while I'm on semester break is just awesome.  I haven't been this giddy and silly in a while.    Y'all take care and have a great week!!
