  • Well, we're waiting.....Everything, and I do mean everything, is closed around here.  Well, except malls, grocery stores, movie theaters, and restaurants!    Yup, we're battening down the hatches waiting for Ms. Isabel to hit us.  I think the waiting is the worst part, you know?  We have water, batteries, gas in the car (why do they tell us to do that when they say in the same breath to NOT go anywhere????), and FOOD.  As we have satellite 2-way internet, I probably won't be able to get on as long as the rain is pelting us.  Ditto for tv...which stinks cuz Survivor starts tonight.  WWAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!   Yes, I know, reality tv is brain rot, but this is truly the one show Royce and I love!  Otherwise, the tv is only on for football, baseball or hockey...and college basketball of course.  We're kinda boring.

Y'all stay safe if you're in the path of Izzy.  I'll give you an update as soon as I can!

  • Hey all!  Everyone around here is FREAKIN' about Isabel.  Lemme tell you, the director of my program is already saying we may not have school on Thurs/Fri.  Good gravy.  Y'all know what's gonna happen...NOTHING.    We'll get some rain and wind and that'll be it.  She's just a wee little Class 3 now and is gonna loose all her steam before she reaches MD.

Ok, the cool pics I had wanted to share didn't show, *poop*.  Soooo, I get to bore you with a story 'bout my chillin's!    The other afternoon I was feeding Spencer, well, atleast I had him in his booster seat with attached tray (he refuses the high chair now cuz it's not the same as what big sis has) and he was asking to get down even though I had just placed him there.  I figured he didn't want to eat, odd, but wasn't going to fight him.  So I let him out, he walked to the silverware drawer, pointed, I got him one of his forks, he went back to his seat, asked to be put back in....and set to work eating.  I nearly fell over!  My little man demanding silverware!!!    Yeah, I'm gonna remind him of this when he's an adolescent!!

Kyra is just as precocious as ever.  She is 100% potty trained and very excited about the cool panties she gets to wear.  I had her draw on a package we're sending to her cousin and she actually drew pictures of me, her daddy, Spencer, herself and our dog, Teddy....and then proceeded to ask me how to spell Teddy...then she copied the letters I pointed to and wrote TEDDY!!!!!!  Holy cow!!!!  Ok, so it wasn't perfect, but heck, she's only 3!  Dang, I love these kids!

  • Wow, John Ritter gone.  I don't know why this is hitting me so hard.  Not like I'm weepy, I mean I didn't know the man.  But I've grown up watching him on tv.  From Three's Company on....he always made me laugh.  I guess I considered him one of the comic geniuses in the entertainment industry.  R.I.P., Jack Tripper.  I'll miss you.

  • You know, today is just one of those days that makes you see God's glory whether you want to see it or not.    It is just gorgeous out today!!  And where am I??? Chained to my computer.  I'm going to try to figure out how to put up a counter to count down my days in P.A. school.  August 2005 seems sooooooo far away!

Nothing big happening around here.  My parents came over yesterday and it is quite obvious to Royce and me that my mom is getting worse and worse.  Dementia is the cruelest disease I have ever "met".  When I think of what my mom used to be like, it truly breaks my heart.  Especially seeing that Kyra is more advanced at 3 yrs old and that Spencer is quickly approaching my Mom's upper limits.  I have no idea how my dad does it.  I'm soo thankful that we have my mom in a day care program.  God was really guiding us when we found that facility.  It may end up being the place where we ultimately place mom.

My dad brought over Chicago for us to watch last night.  What a great movie!!  I was soo impressed with the acting, singing and costumes, it really blew me away.  If you haven't seen it, lemme give it the official Leesa 5 star rating.    Get yer butt up off the couch and git it!

Well, gotta do more research.  Take care and all that jazz

  • Had the kiddos pictures taken on Friday.  Remind me NOT to take both of my children to the mall "playground" EVER by myself, ok??    That was their reward for being soooo great for picture-time.  I'm only showing three of the poses cuz there are a few that are a surprise for the hubby for his birthday.    Enjoy my sweet babies!!

This is Kyra, she's 3, if you didn't catch that.

My Spencer, isn't he just cuter than cute??

And my two precious babes.  The locket Kyra is wearing was mine from when I was a kiddo.  It's never had a picture in it...

Ok, that's it.  I won't bore you with anymore pictures right now.    Have a great holiday everyone!

  • Just wanted to let you know that my wee princess was a total champ today.  She got through her lil surgery without a problem.  To relax her they gave her versed....a drug that not only relaxes but has the benefit of giving you mini-amnesia re: your procedure.  Once it kicked in, she was hysterical.  We were pointing out Tweety bird on her surgical gown and she told us she was Tweety and proceeded to "tweet" like a bird.    Silly girl.  They gave us the tooth they extracted so I've got to run upstairs and sneak some moola under her pillow.  Think a twenty is too much for what she went through to get here?? My lil sweetheart.

Well, gotta run.  I want nothing more than to lie down, snuggle into my pillow, and sleep 8 hours.  I'll settle for 7 if they're good solid hours.    Y'all take care, y'hear?

  • Hola!  Just finished doing my homework on my first day of the Fall semester.  After a whole 10 days off...well, it doesn't feel like I've had any time off!    I essentially drove an hour to class, sat for 2 hours and drove the hour home.  Uh, when your commute = time spent in the classroom, that can't be a good thing!

Had fun with the kiddos while on break.  We "did" the National Zoo (Kyra wanted to take the "baby" giraffe home and hold him....didn't matter that this baby is as tall as our home!).  If you ever get a chance to visit DC, I'd totally recommend the zoo.  It is amazing and FREE!!!!  How can u beat that?  The day after the zoo we went to a really small water park near our house.  It's geared to the younger child and was a blast!  Kyra was leary cuz she HATES getting water in her eyes, but soon warmed up to the concept.  Spencer was a wild man!  That lil guy was unstoppable!!  Absolutely adorable and couldn't have cared less if we were with him or not.

Nothing much going on.  Pretty dang boring, but suits me just fine, thank you very much!  Y'all take care!

  • Yes, I am still around.  What with the end of the semester last week and getting together a humongous party this past Saturday, my free time has been somewhat scarce.  I finished up the semester with some pretty decent grades.  So, I'll be back to P.A. school next monday after a well-deserved 10 day break.  Can u believe that I'm actually doing work for school while on break?  Will the madness never end?

As for the party on Saturday.  What do three three-year-olds, a moonbounce, and cotton candy equal???  Yes, total insanity, especially when you add in around 70 people (adults + kiddos) in my house on one of the hottest days of the year.  My wee princess was a rotten little booger (bless her heart she was totally overwhelmed, but she was still a total stinker) and didn't really enjoy the moonbounce until the guests left and she had mommy's hand to hold while bouncing.  (yah, like I was gonna pass up THAT opportunity???)    Everyone had a ton of fun and I'm still trying to find the energy to re-clean the house.  Anyone wanna come and help?

Just missed meeting Neil (http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=Narragansett55) this weekend.  He felt seeing the Yanks was much more important than meeting yours truly.  *sniff*  That's cool, Neil, really it is.

And, just to round out this scattered blog.  Why, if you're having the misery of having an endoscopy and colonscopy, do they make you NOT eat the day before, drink only water, tea, and broth.  Yay.  And, to top it off, I get to drink somewonderful phosphate soda to "clean" me out.  Good gravy.  I'm nearly dizzy with hunger.  At the mall today I nearly ran a woman over so I could steal her Aunt Annie's pretzel!!!!    See, I'm sooo hungry nothing is making any sense now.

August 5, 2003

  • Well, we've had a few "exciting" days in our household.  It's excitement I'd not care to repeat any time soon.    Kyra woke up from her nap on Saturday afternoon with a fever and a swollen right cheek.  I called our ped. who told me to give her motrin and watch her.  On Sunday when we woke up, it was twice the size it had been and her eye looked like she had been hit with a 2x4...and the fever was wayyy up.  So, called the ped again who had me meet her at the office.  With one look at Kyra she said there was nothing she could do and to walk over to the ER.    So, my poor baby had to get an IV, she had to get sedated, the whole 9 yards due to cellulitis and an abcessed tooth.  Poor kiddo.  She's now on some super power antibiotics and we're waiting to see when her surgery is to have the tooth extracted.  I have never in all my life felt as helpless as I did waking up on Sunday and seeing my lil peanut soo sick.  We have had much snuggling time since then and this is her first day back to day care.

Parenting is not easy, is it?  I just love that little girl more than anything.  Please keep her in your prayers.  Thankfully the swelling is going down somewhat.  I just want her 100% NOW, a patient mommy, huh??  Well, I need to hit the books.  Y'all take care, ok?

  • Ya know how a lot of church's have small billboards outside these days to put out little sayings and announce special events??  There is one such church right down the road from me, a very small BAPTIST church.  I say that in caps because it's important given the message I saw last week.  Driving to school on Thursday, I glanced over, as I always do to read the message.  I gotta tell you, I nearly drove off the road and into some trees after reading the message that day.  In the center of the board, clear as day, the message was:

    Sex is awesome

    Yes, yes it is.

Y'all...the church didn't put up the message!!  I thought you all would figure out that some teens had decided to be funny.  C'mon people....it's a BAPTIST church!!    heh heh
