  • Well, we've had a few "exciting" days in our household.  It's excitement I'd not care to repeat any time soon.    Kyra woke up from her nap on Saturday afternoon with a fever and a swollen right cheek.  I called our ped. who told me to give her motrin and watch her.  On Sunday when we woke up, it was twice the size it had been and her eye looked like she had been hit with a 2x4...and the fever was wayyy up.  So, called the ped again who had me meet her at the office.  With one look at Kyra she said there was nothing she could do and to walk over to the ER.    So, my poor baby had to get an IV, she had to get sedated, the whole 9 yards due to cellulitis and an abcessed tooth.  Poor kiddo.  She's now on some super power antibiotics and we're waiting to see when her surgery is to have the tooth extracted.  I have never in all my life felt as helpless as I did waking up on Sunday and seeing my lil peanut soo sick.  We have had much snuggling time since then and this is her first day back to day care.

Parenting is not easy, is it?  I just love that little girl more than anything.  Please keep her in your prayers.  Thankfully the swelling is going down somewhat.  I just want her 100% NOW, a patient mommy, huh??  Well, I need to hit the books.  Y'all take care, ok?

  • I know the feeling, believe me!  I hope Kyra's back on the mend now.   Reminds me of when Leah was just a one-year old and had severe diarrhea.  We had to take her to the hospital like Kyra, and they hooked her up to an IV.  She was in the hospital three days!  Not fun.

  • Poor baby!!  That's no fun... not kewl dealing with insurance junk, either.  ((hugs!))

  • poor girl! I hope she's feeling better soon!!

  • Gosh, I've never heard of a little on like her getting an abcess.  Bless her heart...

  • I would be frantic as you were. My Cassidy gets allergies and once in awhile she wakes up with her eyes swollen. The first time it happened I freaked and called my stepmother who was a nurse. Told me to relax that is was probably allergies (my both my hubby and I have them too) and to just boil some water and put it on a qtip and roll it over her eye lid from the inside outside to take out any liquid and that it would go down in an hour or so. Ya knwo what? It did, but I still remember that feeling of helplessness.

    Keeping Kyra in my thoughts.

  • ill pray for you and your child
